National Geographic Magazine has declared the Amalfi Coast to be one of the Top 50 Places in the World that one must visit in their lifetime. It’s no coincidence this iconic stretch of the Mediterranean has been used as a backdrop for numerous international films, as well as professional photo-shoots advertising everything romantic from perfume & lingerie to honeymoons. If you have seen any of these & instantly thought “I have to go there,” chances are these images were taken in Positano, the Amalfi Coast’s most beautiful village. With tiers of pastel-hued houses cascading down seaview cliffs, Positano is postcard perfection.

Nightly dinners will be served on our 5 star villa’s terrace by a Michelin star trained chef.
Wine-Knows has leased a private 12 bedroom villa with panoramic views of this astonishing stretch of Italy’s coastline. This opulent villa, owned by a well-known Italian clothing designer, is located in Positano. (See FAQs for a detailed description of this >8,000 sq ft villa).
The entire Amalfi coastline has also been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. One simply cannot visit only the mainland portion of this coast without a visit to the iconic island of Capri just miles off shore. A jet-setter’s paradiso, this old-money-vibe spot is replete with drop-dead gorgeous sea vistas, bazillion Euro yachts, and designer boutiques that will tempt the most discerning Wine-Knows fashionistas. Other day excursions will also be made to the jewel-box Amalfi Coast towns of both Amalfi & Ravello.

But wait, there’s more. The Amalfi Coast is also a wine & food lovers’ nirvana. Both mozzarella & pizza were birthed in the area. Also, the slopes of nearby Mt Vesuvius are home to Italy’s famous San Marzano tomatoes, as well as magnifico wines from grapes grown in volcanic soil. Last, limoncello from the coast’s celebrated giant lemons that offer mega aromas & flavors, is world renown.
The first weeks of October had purposely been selected for their idyllic temperatures, as well as fewer tourists.

Afternoon: The tour officially begins mid-late afternoon. After getting settled there will be introductions, as well as a seminar on the wines & foods of the area.
Evening: Tonight at our welcome dinner on the terrace, the villa’s private chef will showcase Amalfi’s cornucopia of veggies grown in volcanic soil, the area’s special pasta, a classical Italian main dish, along with a traditional dessert from the coast…all served with Mt Vesuvius’ volcanic wines.
Monday: A Walking Tour Begins Your Positano Love Affair

Or, if you’re an art over, there are several galleries with impressive paintings & sculptures (they ship!). Not a shopper? Consider renting an umbrella & beach lounge & ordering a glass of the local white wine. Or, perhaps simply return to our magnificent villa & chill-out poolside.
Evening: Dinner at the villa with local award-winning wines from the local region of Campania.
Tuesday: The Coast’s Best Ceramics & Killer Hilltop Vistas

Then, we’ll head up the mountain to the most glorious views along the entire coastline where we’ll visit the splendido private gardens of Villa Rufolo in the village of Ravello.
Afternoon: After lunch in Ravello we’ll head back down the mountain to the iconic seaside town of Amalfi where there will be free time to visit the cathedral, shop, or just soak in the beauty of this gorgeous town for which the entire coastline has been named. FAQS
Detailed instructions for exactly how to get to the villa, located in the seaside village of Positano, will be sent with final documents. The closest airport is Naples (NAP), which is <40 miles. Those wishing to arrive early on the Amalfi Coast should consider getting over jet lag in Sorrento (10 miles from Positano with an entirely different vibe). From Sorrento a taxi is recommend. (While there is frequent public bus service along the coast to Positano, these buses are often crowded & there is no luggage storage). Wine-Knows is happy to assist with transfers from either the Naples or Sorrento.
Group airfare has purposefully not been included to allow maximum flexibility in arrival & departure options. You may go early & stay over after the trip concludes. Wine-Knows Travel Inc. does not provide airfare.
Our groups are composed of people from diverse occupations, singles & couples, men & women, a mix of young & old, well-seasoned international travelers as well as novices. All have a common interest in food, wine, travel, as well as culture. The vast majority of participants on our tours are repeat clients or their referrals. In addition, each tour participant is a non-smoker.
One of the hallmarks of our brand is seeking out those oh-so-special spots to stay. We look for historic properties that ooze Old World charm, but offer the latest in 21st century creature comforts (upmarket linens, WIFI, air-conditioning, ensuite bathrooms), as well as superb service.

The villa for this trip is definitely out of the “Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous,” valued in the tens of millions of Euros. It features an interior of 8,100 sq feet & contains 12 bedrooms *all with seaview.* All bedrooms are large & many have frescoed ceilings. Most bedrooms have a terrace.
Examples of sumptuous bedrooms, all exquisitely decorated & completely different from the others, are showcased in the following photos:

Along with >8,200 sq feet of terraces & gardens with sweeping seaview, there is also a pool with drop-dead views of the Mediterranean and village of Positano..
There are also interior lounging areas:

The villa’s kitchen features every modern convenience including multiple espresso machines, 2 professional frigs & a large wine refrigerator.
The villa has a well-known private chef who has worked in Michelin star restaurants. All breakfasts & dinners for the week will be held at the villa. Moreover, a cooking class featuring one of the area’s iconic desserts will be included. Gastronomic dinners will be accompanied by carefully selected award-winning wines all of which come from volcanic soil of nearby Mt Vesuvius
Participants must in good physical health and be able to keep up with the pace of the group. The tour often requires climbing two or more flights of stairs in wineries, walking distances of up to 3/4 mile (1200 meters) at a moderate gait, and negotiating cobblestone streets and other irregular surfaces including dirt, gravel and/or wet surfaces.
Concerns over any aspect of the tour’s physical requirements should be addressed with Wine Knows before placing the trip deposit.
The tour will be business casual during the day. It’s highly recommended that men bring a sport coat for the more formal first night and last night dinners. Women should plan a similar level of attire (cocktail dress or fancy pantsuit) for these evenings. Do bring non-skid shoes for walking on cobblestones & visits to wineries as floors may be wet & filled with a variety of equipment which can cause safety hazards. Also, pack a swim suit as the villa has a pool.
Early autumn has been purposely chosen for its idyllic temperatures & the fewer number of tourists. Expect averages in the high 60‘s to low 70’s during the day. Evenings are a little cooler once the sun goes down. A light jacket/sweater is recommended for evenings as we’ll be dining on an outdoor terrace
The price is based upon double occupancy. Should you wish to share a room, every attempt will be made to find you a roommate (most of the time we have been quite successful in doing so), however if we are unable to find you a roommate, you will need to pay the single supplement.
We have provided free time as detailed in the itinerary. Furthermore, it is not mandatory that you attend all of the planned experiences, although most of our clients do! This is your trip—if you would rather sleep in, chill out at the villa, shop, then do it!
Yes. We accept payment through PayPal (PayPal.com). Since PayPal charges us a fee, this fee must added to the cost of the trip. We also accept Zelle.
